A record turnout of over 3,500 people gathered early last Sunday morning for the 4th Race Against Cancer in Vigo. Participants divided into 10km and 5km categories and charity bib numbers were also available. This initiative is a new example of solidarity in the city in order to fight against one of the scourges of modern society: cancer.
O Castro British School cooperated in this charity race once again this year by setting up a balloon twisting and face painting stand. Besides, more than 300 people from O Castro British School educational community, among teachers, students and parents, were part of Kini’s Pit Crew once again.
The funds raised this year will go towards the research project on nanoparticles as a new tool for cancer treatment carried out at Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Santiago de Compostela (IDIS). The Project is being conducted by Fernando Dominguez Puente, from the Genetics of Human Diseases group, Arturo López Quintela, from the Magnetism and Nanotechnology group, both from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and by Begoña García, from the Chemistry Department at Universidad de Burgos.
Thanks a lot for participating and we look forward to seeing you next year!
