The educational community bids farewell to Mari Carmen Vázquez with an emotional online tribute
“Pioneer in the implementation of a more diverse, open and innovative educational model to the one everyone was accustomed to. An example for those who, without a clear vision of what to do, or simply what they want to become, can achieve all they want. Today we remember, honour and congratulate the rigour, courage and resilience of someone who, against all odds, pursued what was not only a dream, but also a duty as an educator.
With these words, one of the Head Students of O Castro British School closed an emotional tribute to the founder of O Castro and Coruña British School, Mari Carmen Vázquez, for her more than deserved retirement. An emotional ceremony, held online in order to comply with the prevention measures against the coronavirus, orchestrated by the Head Students from O Castro, and in which both the educational community of O Castro and our sister school, Coruña British School, participated.
Musical performances in the three languages that coexist in our School(Galician, Spanish and English), videos with emotional messages from classmates, family, students and ex-students, and also from the CEO of Globeducate, Carolina Rodríguez. An hour of a brilliantly organised and orchestrated ceremony by the Head Students of Year 13, who between performances narrated the career and professional history of Mari Carmen, which culminated yesterday, in the facilities of one of her life long dreams: to offer the children of Galicia the opportunity to learn and develop themselves following a complete, balanced curriculum, which encourages critical and analytical thinking and promotes the need to be “lifelong learners”.
On behalf of the entire educational community of O Castro and Coruña British School: “Many thanks Mari Carmen Vázquez, for your work, your effort, your dedication and your love”.
