O Castro British School collects more than two tons of food in the fourth edition of the Hope campaign, a figure slightly higher than the one registered in 2015. The food and the school supplies will be shared among families in need from the city. This initiative, organised by the school PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) in cooperation with the entire educational community, counted, once again, on the solidarity of our students.
Non-perishable food stands out among the supplies donated. Cereal, biscuits, milk, canned food, pasta, legumes, as well as Christmas sweets, have been delivered to: Vigo Food Bank, Cáritas, and Hermanos Misioneros from Teis, in order to comply with the spirit of this campaign: “Help One Person Eat”. In addition, O Castro British School PTA will also deliver the school supplies collected in the course of this campaign. Pencils, markers and notebooks, among other supplies, have been donated in order to minimise the economic effort that the school year implies for many families. 4 Houses, 4 Causes In addition to the Hope Campaign, our students organised a Cupcake Sale in which they collected more than €400. The money will be donated by the school community of the only British school in the province to four entities and / or associations working in different fields. This initiative is part of the “4 Houses, 4 Causes” Corporate Social Responsibility campaign of the school. Each of the Houses of the School – Cambridge, Oxford, York and Durham – are committed to promote solidarity initiatives to cooperate in the fields of ecological help, humanitarian help, emergency help and medical help, which this year are organised as follows: CAMBRIGDE ECOLOGICAL HELP: Asociación Protectora de animales y plantas de Vigo. (Vigo Animal and Plant Welfare Association) DURHAM HUMANITARIAN HELP: Aldeas Infantiles. (Children’s Villages) OXFORD EMERGENCY HELP: Amnesty International – SOS Aleppo campaign YORK MEDICAL HELP: Asociación Vigo contra el Cáncer. (Vigo Association Against Cancer)
