The British National Curriculum is designed to facilitate an understanding of the world in which we live and the challenges that we face. The curriculum aims to educate ethically aware young people, capable of leadership, and with the tools that they need for success in whatever field they choose to embark upon, once their school years have been completed.
The National Curriculum of England, Wales and Northern Ireland provides a broad and balanced educational programme, with full immersion in the English language from day one. Students receive personalised attention in order to help them to access every part of the curriculum and to maximise their academic potential. During their final years at school, students participate in a university orientation programme, incorporating mentoring sessions to help them to set appropriate goals, and a work experience element to help them to understand the realities of the world of work.
The National Curriculum of England, Wales and Northern Ireland is divided into four Key Stages, each stage having a clearly defined programme of study:
All students at O Castro British school sit the prestigious IGCSE and A-Level examinations at the end of Secondary and Sixth Form respectively. These qualifications are academically rigorous, internationally recognised and permit access to the best universities in the world; they also conform to the curricular requirements stipulated by the local education authorities, enabling students’ access to Spanish and Galician universities.
