O Castro British School was proclaimed champion of the Debate League, finalist of the III School Debate Meet and champion of the Speech Contest
O Castro British School promoted for third consecutive year the III School Debate Meet, which was held last weekend in online modality. The event was the last day of the School Debate League, organized by the Asociación Club de Oratoria y Debate Escolar (CODE), sponsored by WEDU Sociedad&Educación, O Castro British School and with the collaboration of the Asociación de Retórica de la Universidad de Vigo. It brought together over 70 school children from different entities in Vigo and its metropolitan area, including O Castro British School, Colegio Estudio, Ángel da Guarda School, Carmelitas School, Rosalía de Castro School, Apóstol Santiago School, Inventiva Association and Wedu Debate Club.
In total, 24 Secondary and Bacauraleate teams composed of two members each, who measured their public speaking skills under the Parliamentary Debate, and 25 primary school children who participated in a speech competition.
The O Castro British School veteran team, made up of Miguel Ruiz and Miguel Alonso, was a finalist in the veteran category and winner of the School Debate League, held between March and June.
The youngest also had their moment at the closing ceremony, where the prize was awarded to the finalist of the Speech Competition. Samuel Coira Lecuyer, a 5th grade student at O Castro British School, managed to get the most votes among three other finalists by defending the word “team” with an extraordinary one-minute speech.
