O Castro British School ends 2020 with impressive results in its traditional H.O.P.E. Campaign
One year again, as it´s tradition, O Castro British School its first term with the delivery of the goods and food donated by the families and workers of the school to the already well-known H.O.P.E. (Help One Person Eat) campaign. With this charity campaign, O Castro British School has been contributing to the massive food collection that Caritas has been organising for more than five years in the days leading up to Christmas. Another sign of the community’s commitment to this initiative is that our Deputy Head Boy, Enrique Glez. de la Ballina Roca, wanted to write this news himself.
At a Christmas time when charity and a sense of community are more necessary than ever, given the health and economic crisis orchestrated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the centre’s organisation felt it was imperative that all members of the educational community (students, parents and workers) participated in the food collection campaign with more enthusiasm than ever. This campaign has been really successful and the students supported massively the collection products such as vegetables, pasta, rice, milk, preserves, biscuits, cereals, baby food and Christmas sweets, to help the most disadvantaged people enjoy this Christmas.
Pupils of Year 13 (2nd year of Bachillerato) were in charge this year of the traditional food delivery food to Cáritas (Parish of Santa María de Castrelos), on Friday 18th December. The organisation of the H.O.P.E. campaign considers that the future members of the second promotion of graduates of O Castro British School are the ideal candidates to carry out this task and thus momentarily clear themselves of the preparation of their A Level and PCE exams next May.
Taking part into H.O.P.E. 2020 campaign reveals the atmosphere of solidarity and fraternity O Castro British School carries out in its activity. From the school, we would like to thank the entire educational community for their collaboration, and we hope to achieve the same, or even better, results next year. We take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas.
