The desire to learn is one of the cornerstones of NACE Schools’ educational philosophy and is passed on to our students by the positive attitude to learning adopted by our teachers. We attach great importance to providing our staff with ongoing training and we are continually updating our teaching and learning strategies. At O Castro British School, we strive to stay at the forefront of educational innovation, to optimise resources and to meet the individual needs and abilities of every student in order to prepare them for the challenges that they will encounter in their future personal, academic and professional lives.
At NACE Schools we believe that the whole educational community should be involved in an active and continuous learning process, and so our teachers participate regularly in workshops and training sessions, including topics such as Emotional Intelligence, New Technologies or Assertive Discipline. All teachers employed by the NACE Schools group participate in an initiative called Impact in the Classroom, which provides teachers with a range of tools and strategies designed to increase their impact on student learning.
NACE Schools also runs an initiative entitled Learning Coaches, which provides specific training for NACE staff who then act as mentors for other teachers and colleagues, providing the support and guidance necessary to facilitate ongoing professional growth and development. Progress is monitored and optimised by means of a quality control system specific to NACE Schools entitled NACE Platinum Standard which develops, evaluates, supports and improves teacher performance.
NACE Schools organise training sessions for all members of their staff. All staff at O Castro British school participate in a training workshop entitled Impact on Learning, which encourages teachers to explore practical strategies which have a positive impact on every student’s learning. The workshops include sessions on topics such as The Role of Questions, Motivation and Challenge in the classroom, Systematic Monitoring of Pupil Progress and the Importance of Feedback.
As part of NACE Schools commitment to educational excellence, in 2017 an initiative entitled Educational Coaching was introduced. Teachers from throughout the NACE group have been trained as Coaches with a view to supporting and guiding their colleagues on their quest for professional excellence. NACE’s objective is to employ and maintain a body of professionals with a passion for teaching who are constantly striving to improve their educational methodology and classroom practice. Teachers, students and the entire Nace community subscribe to the same philosophy: Be the best you can be!
To ensure continual development and improvement, NACE Schools has implemented a framework for monitoring and improving quality throughout all its schools, known as the NACE Platinum Standard. The purpose of this initiative is to monitor and improve the performance of all NACE schools and to guarantee Educational Excellence. The Nace Platinum Standard helps schools to assess the quality of the education they offer, and the system is based upon best educational practice from around the world. The programme is structured by means of a set of quality indicators which outline improvement plans in areas such as Effective Leadership, Quality of Teaching and Student Progress and Well-being.Find out more about NACE Platinum Standard
“As a teacher, the greatest satisfaction for me is not to impart concepts of grammar, spelling or oral expression but to provide students with the means, tools, materials and strategies that allow them to develop fully, being critical, creative, empathetic and respectful, prepared for the future.”
